The inevitable has happened, Today, HTC posted the company’s first quarterly loss. In Q3, HTC pulled in $1.6 billion revenue, but it was not enough to offset the company’s expenses, resulting in a $101.2 million net loss. HTC is not reporting how many devices it shipped during the quarter. There have been reports of inventory shortages of the HTC One mini due to manufacturing issues, but the company’s quarterly loos is most likely attributed to slower than expected sales of the HTC One and slow market penetration into markets like China and India.
Due to the sale of HTC’s stake in Beats, HTC is still expected to close out 2013 with a slight profit. Hopefully, HTC has something special in store for us for Q4 which will delight consumers and help propel the company back in the right direction.
