The HTC One may be the best smartphone of 2013, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s the best phone for everyone. Price and size are often critical factors considered when people are on the market for a new device. While the HTC One may have all the bells and whistles, it can be overwhelming for those who want something simple to check their email and stay updated on Facebook. Enter the HTC Desire 200, a new budget-friendly Android phone which can easily fit into the palm of your hand.
The HTC Desire 200 comes with a 3.5-inch, 320 x 480 LCD display, a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 processor, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot (expandable up to 32GB), 5 megapixel camera with an fixed focus F2.8 34mm lens, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, Beats Audio and a 1230 mAh battery. As you might expect from a low-end device, the HTC Desire 200 does not come with LTE connectivity or a front-facing camera.
While the specs have nothing in common with the HTC One, the Desire 200′s front-facing speaker grill aligns perfectly with HTC’s new design language. The HTC Desire 200 will be available in black and white with a subtle dot texture on the back. We don’t know if the HTC Desire 200 will make its way to North America, but you should expect the phone to show up on service providers across Europe and Asia for free with new two-year contracts. Off-contract pricing for the HTC Desire 200 is set at NT$4990 in Taiwan, roughly $165 USD.
