During HTC’s annual shareholder meetings, Peter Chou reiterated HTC’s commitment to growth. With HTC’s current market share sitting at roughly 4 percent, HTC is determined to enhance its brand recognition and improve customer loyalty as the company regains lost ground from Apple, Sony and other competitors in the smartphone sector.
We managed to maintain a 4-percent global smartphone market share last year and we are determined to do our best to expand the percentage to 10 to 15 percent in the future. Give us some time and we will stage a comeback. We will redouble our efforts this year to further enhance our brand recognition and loyalty around the world.
It’s not clear how long it will take HTC to grown from 4 percent to 10 to 15 percent, but bold marketing moves are certainly needed if HTC wants to compete. Creating amazing devices like the HTC One is only one piece of the puzzle. In order for them to sell, consumers need to know why HTC’s device is better than what Apple and Samsung are currently offering.
Do you think HTC will be able to expand its market share to 15 percent in the coming years?
